Word Count Communications
Who’s Word Count?
Gina Masullo
I’m a communications professional with unbounded enthusiasm and a decade of experience. Most recently, I spent three and a half years at a boutique PR agency, helping travel-related clients build awareness, identity, and profit. I helped manage agency operations while advising clients such as Westin Hotels & Resorts; the city of Palm Desert, California; and several Marriott-owned hotels. My clients enjoyed nonstop coverage with outlets like The Today Show, Associated Press, The New York Times, USA Today, MSN.com, The Wall Street Journal, Time, and social-media channels. I implemented lifestyle partnerships, coached staff members on writing skills, created crisis- and media-training programs, and coordinated large-scale guerrilla events.
Prior to agency life, I worked as a spokesperson for the City of New York’s Department of Parks & Recreation—where I received government crisis training, coordinated Mayoral press conferences, wrote speeches, edited the agency’s daily newsletter, and worked with national and local media on a daily basis.
In a past life, I was a full-time magazine writer and editor—including several years at niche publication Business Traveler, where I traveled on assignment, edited content, and managed consumer marketing. I was also the founding editor of Travel Savvy magazine (R.I.P.), where I forged valuable relationships with writers and photographers while building a brand from the ground up.
I’m an avid explorer, hiker, and photographer who has done volunteer and pro bono work for organizations including The Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR), American Red Cross, New York Cares, and teen media company Harlem Live.
